We encourage our alumni to help the department by asking you to consider donations to help the department. The first is that graduate research is costly, and traditional avenues of support for student research are becoming even more competitive. We have set up a new fund that will be used specifically to fund student research, and we are calling it the “Graduate Student Research Grant Fund.” Our goal is to raise $2000 for a Graduate Student Research Grant. If you would like to help with this, contribute online or send a check that specifies that the money will go to the Graduate Student Research Grant Fund (see below).
We are also trying to endow two recently created funds. Keith Rasmussen (MS ’81) donated $10,000 to start a fund honoring Professor Emeritus Dr. Greg Mack. Also, Ira Bradford (MS ’07) and Beth Welle Bradford (MS ’08) donated $10,000 (including a corporate match) to start a fund honoring Professor Emeritus Dr. Tim Lawton (mention fund #972594 in the subject line). Please consider donating to one of these funds.
You have two options for your tax-deductable donation. The first is online donations through the NMSU Foundation. Click on “Tell us how you want your gift applied”and fill in Department of Geological Sciences, followed by either the Gift Fund, which provides the most flexibility, or to the General Student Scholarship Fund, or to a specific scholarship fund listed below.
If you prefer to pay by check, make it out to “NMSU Foundation” and include the fund number or name in the memo line. Mail to:
